CLAIR F. BEE JR.
Albany- Clair F. Bee Jr., 67 of Albany, beloved husband of Jacqueline "Jackie" A. Bee, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side.
Born in Brooklyn on October 9, 1948, he was the son of the late Clair F. Sr. and Mary Margaret (Miller) Bee. He was a 1967 graduate of the NY Military Academy. Clair was married to the former Jacqueline A. Liebl on April 3, 1971 and the two shared a devoted union of 45 years prior to his passing. He proudly served as a Sergeant, was with the Military Police as well as a Detective with the Criminal Investigative Department in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a recipient of the Purple Heart and 2 bronze stars.
Clair started his career in 1975 with the NYS Department of Corrections. He was a graduate of the US Army Missile and Munitions School for Hazardous Devices at Red Stone Alabama, member of the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators and helped establish the Department of Corrections K-9 unit and worked closely with the NYS Police Bomb Disposal Unit, as a regional bomb technician for the FBI. He was a weapons specialist and training instructor for Firearms and Chemical Agents and part of the CERT team. Clair retired in 2006 after 31 years with the NYSDOC and at that time was the Assistant Commissioner of Corrections. Following retirement he was a partner of BeeSecure LLC.
Clair enjoyed sailing on Lake Champlain and in the 70's and early 80's was the keyboardist for the Mystic Band, he was also a supporter of the arts.
In addition to his beloved wife Jackie, he is survived by his loving children: Carrie (Marc) Weiss of Latham, Jennie (Lucas) Bee Weston of Voorheesville, Clair F. (Tara) Bee III of Albany and Christopher M. (Lisel) Bee of Voorheesville as well as his nine cherished grandchildren: Chloe, Ariana, Zachary, Sadie, Atreyu, Cameron, Louisa, Maple and Asa and his nephew: Michael Farley.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday October 10, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday October 11 at 10:30 am with Deacon Mark Leonard officiating.
In lieu of flowers and due to cemetery regulations, memorial contributions can be made in Clair's memory to the Veterans Miracle Center, 10 Interstate Ave, Albany, NY 12205; www.vmcalbany.org
Interment with full military honors will take place in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
