WALTER J. GIBBON Latham- Walter J. Gibbon, 78 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 24, 2008 at Albany Medical Center, in Albany. Born in Waukegan IL, on April 19, 1930, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Ethel B. (Rau) Gibbon. On April 19, 1979, Walter married the former Betty Jean Karpowicz, the two had just recently celebrated a blessed union of love and devotion together of 29 years. He served in the Air Force and attended MIT where he completed electrical and radar courses. He was a Kitchen & Bath Designer, employed for 17 years for G. Isabella & Sons in Astoria, NY. Walter most recently started his own business; Doors New York in the same field in Long Island City. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife Betty Jean, include his children; James Gibbon of FL.,Marie Maxson of PA., Steve Gibbon of TN., Patti Schwartz of OH., Brett Gibbon of GA., Colleen Judson of CT., Krista Gibbon of FL., Cindy Mack of Mechanicville, & William Blum of CA., 13 cherished grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren as well as his sister Peggi Isabella and his brother Paul Gibbon both of Long Island. Walter is also survived by several nieces and nephews with special mention to his niece Dr. Darlene Gibbon. He is also survived by his beloved canine poodle Ginny. He is Predeceased by his 2 brothers: Ed and Bob and his 2 sisters: Pat and Ethel Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Monday April 28 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham A celebration of Walter's life will take place on Monday April 28 at 11:30 a.m. immediately following the gathering at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Walter's name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
