Obituary of Janet Louise Estep

Latham- Janet Louise Estep (Samsa), 73, died peacefully after a seven year battle with cancer on July 28, 2014 at Albany Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 21, 1940 in Peoria, IL, she was the daughter of the late Tony and Esther (Lacey) Samsa.
Survivors include her beloved husband Dan Estep, her loving children Angie (Billy) Byrne, DJ (Danielle) Estep and Joe (Debra) Estep. Cherished grandmother of Caeli, Ryan, Kyle, Liam and Aidan Byrne, Gabrielle, Charles Estep, Sophie and Marie Estep. She was the sister of Darrell (Joanne) Samsa and Rosemary (Pat) Palmer. In addition to her parents Jan was predeceased by her brother Butch Samsa.
After graduating from Manuel Training High School in Peoria, Illinois in 1958 she worked as a graphic design artist for the Peoria Journal Star and in the same position for the Albany Times Union (formerly the Knickerbocker News) until she started a family in 1966. She married her beloved Dan Estep on October 17, 1964 and they were happily married for 50 years, living and raising their family in Latham. NY. She was the office liaison for the family business "Estep Builders" for many years. Janet had a love of cooking, music and was a connoisseur of fine clothing. Jan especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her cat Louie. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday August 1, 2014 at 11:00 am in St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. John Cairns officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday July 31, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
