MARGARITA "Margie" ORTIZ Loudonville-Margarita Fitzpatrick Ortiz ("Margie") was called home to heaven by our Heavenly Father on the morning of January 6, 2013, after a brief illness. Margie was born and grew up in New York City where she graduated from Central Commercial High School and worked several years as an Executive Secretary. Her Christian faith being a central part of her life, she attended and graduated seminary from the Latin American Bible Institute. As a young adult she was active in church ministries at the Latin American Pentecostal Church ("La Sinagoga") where she served as President of the church's youth group for several years. She was a soprano with the church's choir. Also, she was a lead soloist with the "Chords of Joy," a singing group which visited prisons, participated in street evangelism services and other churches as well in the New York Metropolitan Area. Margie met her husband of nearly 40 years, Blas, as a pre-teen in their church. They started dating in 1970 and married 3 years later in 1973. During the course of their marriage, they were blessed with two wonderful children, Lisa and Marcos. The family moved into the Capital District in 1980. Over the last 33 years, she remained faithfully active in her walk with the Lord raising her children in the Christian faith and serving in church as a soloist in the choir, leading worship, encouraging others through prayer, amongst numerous other ministries. Through her time in New York City and here in the Capital District, she developed a very close network of dear friends. Margie is survived by her husband and children, as well as her sister Caroline F. Velez and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be on Thursday January 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Road Latham, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday January 8, from 4-7 p.m. and on Wednesday January 9, from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
