MARY T. VAN SLEET Latham-There's no place like home for Mary Van Sleet, of Latham NY, who passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loved ones. Born Mary Theresa Gendron of Northside Cohoes, she was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Raymond P Van Sleet, her mother Marie E Nolin Gendron, father Albert M Gendron and Margaret F Dougherty Gendron. Mary was the last surviving sibling to Joseph Gendron, Albert (Helen) Gendron, Bernard (Margaret) Gendron and Joan (Thomas) Desmond. Surviving Mary are her children Karen (Denzil) Showers of Beloit WI, Mark (Betty)Van Sleet of Lakeworth FL, Eric Van Sleet of Latham, Bill (Donna) Van Sleet of Latham, and grandchildren, Dara Showers (Ian) Christy of NYC and Stefen Showers of Madison WI. Mary was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church of Latham. The family is so thankful to the special people who have allowed Mary to be in her home for these past years including Sharon Sulz of Latham who has been like a second daughter. Words cannot express the appreciation the family has for Nina Lake and the Albany County Hospice team as well as Marion Shubnel of Latham. Arrangements are being made by Dufrense and Cavanaugh Funeral Home of Latham and internment will be in St Agnes Cemetary in Cohoes. A celebration of Mary's life was shared by her family, and funeral services will be a small gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice of Albany County.445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 For directions, information or to light a memory candle for the family please visit www.dufresneandcavanaugh.com
