Obituary of June A. Gainer

JUNE GAINER Loudonville-June Gainer (Thies), 63 of Loudonville, passed away on March 4, 2012 after a 6 year battle with Ovarian Cancer. June spent most of her life on Long Island until moving to the Capital District in 2003. She sadly left many good friends behind, but quickly made new ones who helped and supported her through her illness. June was an active member of the American Cancer Society HopeClub (formerly Gilda's Club), where she found great inspiration. She was also a member of the Colonie Women's Club, had dear friends in the Sparkling Scarlett's and belonged to Caring Together, a support group devoted to finding a cure for this terrible disease. June was a parishioner at St. Pius X Church. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with family. June leaves her wonderful, care giving husband of 43 years, Al. She is also survived by her daughter, Lori and her husband Ronald Kormanek of Mooresville, NC and her son Christopher and his wife Clarice Gainer of Port Jervis, NY, Also her beautiful grandchildren Amanda, Matt, Kyle, Andrew, Kevin and Lucas whom she will love for eternity, along with her aunt, Marie Schoemig and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Wayne and her parents Lucy & Bob Thies all of Brattleboro, VT June is grateful for the care she received from Dr. K & the nurses and staff at WCCA, especially Annie and Barb who traveled the entire journey with her. Relatives & friends are invited and may call on Thursday March 8, 2012 from 4-7 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday March 9 at 9:30 am at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville followed by interment at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, specifically HopeClub programs or CaringTogetherNY.org or to Community Hospice of Albany.
