Just looking up Sid Brown, I learn that he lived a long life and died peacefully. My condolences to his family for a life well-lived.
I've thought of him often and was gratified more than 10 years ago when I learned he was a consultant at age 85 for Garry at the brewery. I regret I didn't visit the brewery when Sid was still there. I visited Albany, Schenectady and Troy more than three years ago for UAlbany and Troy Times Record staff alumni reunions.
When I worked at the Schenectady Gazette (1977 to 1985), Sid Brown was the chief photographer with a Cessna 172 for aerial photographs. I asked him to take me up in the plane with my camera. We flew around Albany as I took photos, then he asked me to take the wheel as he took photos. I protested, but he said to just keep the plane level because he had the pedals.
