I recently heard about Marty's passing and reflected back to when we were kids growing up on Gail Ave. I have few Marty stories to share. Marty is in some of our home videos from when we were kids. Marty and I lived 3 houses apart on Gail Ave. I was about 10 when I first met Marty. In the summer along with other kids on the block we would swim in the pool the Jacksons had; His Mom would have snacks for us and we would sometimes play records on the stereo they had downstairs in the house. We rode mini-bikes in the woods behind our houses, heading down "the path" that is now Nicole dr. At night we would play hide and seek, ding dong ditch or kick the can. In the winter we skated on "the pond" behind the Putnam's house or pile a bunch of us on a toboggan and ride down the big hill. Marty was two years older than us other kids so naturally was kind of the leader, We would walk through the woods up to Central Ave and snowball bomb cars on Central Ave. We were pretty successful at that and eventually got chased away by the police. Marty decided to move the operation to Lanci Lane where we had a much better escape route into the woods, and we did pretty good there also. Eventually being two years older than us Marty got a driver's license, and we really did not see him much after that. He did fall victim to a bunch of snowballs one evening on Lanci Lane in that old yellow Plymouth convertible he drove, after getting pummeled with snowballs he slammed on the brakes, sped back to us skidding to a stop and chased us back into the woods yelling and cursing...but we had too much of a lead. He later aimed the old yellow Plymouths windshield washer towards the edge of the road and would spray us with water when he drove by.
Marty helped create some great childhood memories, my condolences go out the family as he will surely be missed.

This is one of the hardest tributes i have had to right in a very long time. marty and I go back a long time when I was working in Colonie HS marty was one of the "group" that made my day challenging . Never disrespectful but a non conformist. marty gave me a run for the money always had something to say but in a funny way..
A little over a year ago our paths crossed again in the Village of Colonie. Marty worked for me in Cook Park and was always had the friendly face and would talk to everyone. GREAT EMPLOYEE and a Funny guy. I personally will miss Marety and send my prayers to his family. Some stories will go with me when I go so Marty our secrets of chasing you and the GROUP through the woods will forever be with me . R.I.P and have fun drowning worms .
