The one overriding memory I have that best exemplifies my daddy’s love for and dedication to his children (particularly me at that time) was the attention he paid to making our Christmas celebration each year so magical and memorable. He would start by putting me to bed and, only after that, putting up, with the help of my Mom, all the indoor Christmas tree and stocking decorations, along with all the coveted presents under the tree. But just to make it even more believable for a young girl like me, my father would then put a combination of snow print and soot remnants ( from Santa’s trip down the chimney) over the floor and carpet, and, believe it or not, would climb up on our roof (even in sub-zero weather) to create the sound of reindeer landing in the roof above my bedroom. Only a true engineer mind would go to that extreme. I can still vividly remember coming down from my bedroom Christmas morning, checking to make sure that Santa had picked up the list of presents I had left for him and that he indeed had devoured the milk and cookie snack I had made up for him. Then I would follow the sooted snow prints onto the living room, see the brightly decorated tree with all the presents underneath it, and I couldn’t help but feel that Santa had once again come through for this good girl and had made this morning purely magical and hard to forget. Thank you daddy for such long lasting and loving memories, of which our Christmas celebration was only one example. I wish so much I could still be sharing moments like that with you and Mom, but I know that both of you will forever hold a treasured place in my heart. I love you both so much, so please Rest In Peace. Valerie Binzen-Brethauer

I will truly miss my Uncle Wiggly, I loved him very much. He was a talented man! He liked to work on Sudoku puzzles, play golf, shoot pool, play stack-attack and darts. He’d use his treadmill to stay fit, I loved to watch him dance with Judy Ann, his precision of putting massive puzzles together and then attach it to walls in the basement party room, he would use his jigsaw and make puzzles out of wood, and he made beautiful wine cork designs sometimes adding one’s initial or name within the design. He outsmarted the squirrels in his backyard when feeding the birds with a contraption of sorts he made. We all enjoyed his sharp wit and humor and had many good laughs. I remember he would always ask “why am I not at work”, even during the weekends, we would just laugh about it. His work bench out in the garage was immaculate, not a screw or hand tool out of place, he always knew where to find something. He enjoyed cooking too. Rest in peace Uncle Willard and I sure hope you are enjoying a couple glasses of wine right now! Wiggly you will always be in my heart!!

Our Dear Uncle Wiggly, we will miss you always. My children (now grown) could not say Willard, it came out like Wiggly, so Wiggly he became! From the huge wooden swing set he designed and built with my husband to the child size work bench he designed and built himself for my son Wiggly could do it all. His sly smile and quick wit always made family get together as so much fun! He and my husband enjoyed working together on many projects and discussing and sharing tools and ideas. We love you Wiggly! Always in our hearts!

My dear uncle Willard will be greatly missed by many. Not only was he so handsome, but also extremely intelligent and with a wonderful sense of humor, always ready with a quick reply to make you smile. His talents were many, including inventions for his employers, as well as for fun once he retired, completing extraordinary difficult puzzles and framing them for wall art, a Sudoku expert, landscape and garden creator, and fabricating beautiful works of art with wine corks. His workshop filled with every tool imaginable was always spotless and extremely neat. Willard's mind was never still, nor was his body...always active and physically fit.
We always laughed about the time he was in the Air Corps and my parents wanted to let him know about my birth back in April, 1945. They wanted to make sure their telegram had the urgency to be paid attention to, so all it said was, "It's a girl!" Everyone congratulated Willard on his newborn daughter!
He and Judy Ann were fantastic hosts to myriad family get-togethers where we always had such fun and couldn't wait for the next one! I loved my uncle Willard so very much. We were blessed to have him near us these past 30+ years.
Willard will be in my heart forever,
Lauren
