MINERVA S. BRUNO-RACELA, MD
Minerva S. (Bruno) Racela, 83 of Loudonville, beloved wife of the late Dr. Isaac G. Racela., entered into eternal life Tuesday, September 7th, 2021, with her family at her side.
Born in the Philippines on May 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Solomon Bruno and Leonor (de Los Santos) Bruno. Dr. Bruno attended the University of the Philippines and Far Eastern University (medical school) and relocated to the U.S. in 1961. She married her beloved Dr. Isaac G. Racela on May 19th, 1962 and shared a beautiful marriage of 56 years.
She was a well-known Physician (pediatrics) in the Capital District. Dr. Bruno was a medical director for Center Health at The Center for Disability Services for over 30 years and most recently worked at the Van Rensselaer Manor. But her pride and honor were to serve as medical director of St. Colman's Home in Watervliet for almost 40 years. She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. Along with her husband, Minerva loved to cultivate her outdoor landscaping, making it a beautiful home for their family. She enjoyed traveling but was particularly fond of the many trips to Cape Cod.
Survivors include her loving children Ronald (Susan) Racela of Latham, Gene Racela of Loudonville, and James (Ghea) Racela of Denver; her siblings Reynaldo Bruno, Lorna Bruno-Monteverde, Erico Bruno, and Dante Bruno; seven grandchildren Kiersten, Alexandra, Gregory, Karlyn, Jacob, JJ, and Arabelle. She is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her late husband, Minerva is predeceased by her brother Arceo Bruno.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 17th, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 18th, 2021, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
Interment will immediately follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
