BRIAN M. DUNPHY Latham-Brian Michael Dunphy, 71 of Latham, beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Dunphy, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, entered peacefully into eternal life on Saturday December 15, 2018 in the comfort of his home with his family at his side after a long, courageously fought battle with behavioral variant Fronto Temporal Disease, ultimately succumbing to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease). Born in Queens, NY on July 3, 1947, he was the son of the late Thomas and Irene (Golden) Dunphy. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady. Brian married the love of his life Betty Breeyear November 2, 1974 and the two shared a beautiful marriage of 44 years. Brian's skill and incredible work ethic saw him through a long career in the printing field; the majority of his career employed by Crest Litho Inc. in Colonie and previously, Maqua Co. in Schenectady. Brian spent many years volunteering at St. Theresa of Avila in Albany. He also was an assistant coach for Albany Little League and CYO basketball. Brian never missed his children's sports activities. He was a social member of the Colonie Village Fire Company and an avid fan of the New York Giants and Yankees. Some of his most favorite times were traveling with his family to Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas and Lake George. He treasured his visits to New Mexico to spend time with his son and grandson and his weekly visits with his brother Terry and sister-in-law Nancy. Survivors left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife include; his loving children; Colleen (Eric) Johnson of Latham and Patrick (Joanna Scoggins) of Las Cruces, NM, his cherished grandchildren Connor, Allison, and Olivia Johnson and Avery Jackson-Dunphy, his dear brothers Thomas Dunphy of Walnut Creek, CA and Terrence (Nancy) Dunphy of Guilderland, his beloved sisters-in-law Deborah Breeyear (Tom Gannon), Bernadette (Glen) Henry, Charlotte (Roy) Davis and Mary Jean Breeyear, his nephews Bernard Breeyear III and Daniel Breeyear, nieces Rebecca Breeyear and Katie Dunphy. Brian was also the dear friend of Al & Ellen Sagendorph. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Bernard Breeyear Jr., his sisters-in-law Bridget Anne Frese and Jane Dunphy. The family especially appreciated Brian's brothers' researching and assisting in providing alternative treatments that contributed greatly to Brian's hope and quality of life. Brian was lucky to have his children's constant support. Brian's son Patrick was relentless in his research into and management of Brian's health care. Colleen provided care for her father and they both lit up his life.
