Obituary of Jean R. Mooney

JEAN R. MOONEY Latham- Jean R. Mooney, 92, of Latham, beloved wife of the late John J. "Jack" Mooney Esq. passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 31, 2018 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Cohoes on February 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Regina V. (McPhail) Reiniger. Jean was educated at St. Augustine's School, Catholic Central High School class of 1943 and a Graduate of the Troy Business School with a degree in Comptometry. Jean worked as a teacher assistant in special education at Shaker Junior High School for 14 years. At one time she worked in the billing department at the A & P Grocery Store in Albany. Jean was a member of the Young at Heart and Altar Rosary Society at St. Ambrose Church. She was also a past volunteer at the Beltrone Living Center in the transportation department. She enjoyed playing bridge with her dear friends and was considered the world's worst golfer and loved every minute of it. Jean will be fondly remembered for her relentless sense of humor, which captivated all who knew her. Jean is survived by her loving children: Janice M. (Stephen M. Johns) Mooney of Haworth, NJ & John J. (Patricia) Mooney of London England, 4 cherished grandchildren; Laura (Vince) Mooney, Elizabeth (Max) Miller, Hannah Johns & Christopher (Natalia) Johns. 3 adored great grandchildren Eloise, Teddy and Claire as well as her sister Eileen Swota of Spiegletown. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews She is predeceased by her brothers, Donald, George & Bernard Reiniger and her sisters Marion Petnel and Mildred Bennett. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday February 6, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Jean's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 7 at 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
