I never knew Jean, but I am privileged to know Jan from work and heard about her mom from time to time. I admire Jan so much, not only for the professionalism and brilliance she brings to our community every day, but more for her incredible compassion for others, friendship, empathy and jovial nature. That can only mean she was nurtured by an incredible mother. On many occasions, I heard Jan speak of her mom and those words always seemed to bring a smile to my face. In this time of grief, I wish all of you strength, comfort from being in the company of loved ones and hopefully some solace in knowing that Jean lived a long life and left what I am sure is a lasting legacy through her family. I am so sorry for your loss. We love you Jan and send our thoughts to your family. Shawn

To Jean's family.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Jean on my first day as an Escort Driver at Beltrone; Jean was my companion and we hit it off immediately. She had a heart of gold and always made me laugh - what a sense of humor. She constantly talked about her son and daughter and grand-children. She loved you all so much and was so very proud. I loved to hear her stories. Even when she "retired" as a companion we stayed in touch and met occasionally for lunch. The last time we had spoke we said we would go to lunch as soon as this cold spell ended and unfortunately we never got to do that. I would always ask how she was and, Jean, being the joker she was, always said she was a PITA (do I need to spell it out?). I loved her so much and will miss her tremendously.
God Bless you all.
Donna

Dear Loving Family of Jean,
I had been the Nurse at St. Ambrose for many years. I met her right away. We instantly connected, and she was always fun, kind and sweet. I continued to see her when your Dad died, and she never stopped telling me that she loved me and her appreciation. She continued all these years to drop in my office and say she came for a hug. She was a sweetheart and I shall always remember her, her caring ways, gentle smile and the love in her heart. Mayshe Rest In Peace.

I only knew Jean Mooney for 7 years. She was my grandmother-in-law, and though our time together was short, I grew to love and admire her in ways I have few others. She was a remarkable woman, limitless in her unique wit and love of others. She introduced herself to me as “Mean Jean” but everyone knows this was a misnomer, as few have matched her in joy and kindness. I marveled at how active she was; always volunteering to assist folks a decade or more her junior. This was a testament to how strong she was in mind and body, and how tender she was in her heart. She made me laugh, and she always warmed me with one of her hugs. I will never forget her joy, her wit, her warmth, and her love. Thank you, Mean Jean, for being my friend. I will miss you dearly, and “your lawyer” will make sure your great grandchildren always have you in their hearts.
