SUSAN A. CAPONERA
Susan A. Caponera, 58 - The world lost an extraordinary, compassionate, and loving woman on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at her home in Kinderhook.
Susan was born in Troy, on August 13, 1958; she was the daughter of Dorothy (Bell) Liburdi and the late John Liburdi. She grew up in Latham, and graduated from Shaker High School in 1976. Susan went on to attend Maria College and earned an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies. On August 9, 1980, Susan married the love of her life, Ronald J. Caponera and created a beautiful life together for the last 36 years.
Susan worked with the Town of Colonie for over 35 years as an Insurance and Contract Administer, retiring in 2011. For the past five years, she worked for the Catholic Charities as an office manager. Susan enjoyed being able to provide support for those in need, and cherished the role she played in the lives of many through the Catholic Charities.
Her greatest pleasure in life was her family and all the time spent with her friends and family at their camp in Newcomb, NY. It was the place that gave her the most joy and quickly became known as her "Happy Place". The only thing that she treasured more was being able to share it with everyone she loved. Susan was also exceptionally proud of her children, and reveled in seeing the lives they created for themselves.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her children Nick (Shannon) Caponera of Vista, CA, and Michael Caponera (and fiancé Jonathan) of Columbia, SC. She is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, dear friends and brother John Liburdi. Susan was predeceased by her son Timothy Caponera in 1988.
