ROBERT I. CHURCH
Latham- Robert I. Church, 83 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 22, 2017 at home with his family by his side.
Born in North Greenbush on May 27, 1933, he was the son of the late Harry and Mildred (Wilcox) Church. He was a 1951 graduate of Troy High School and he proudly served in the United States Army as a Corporal. Bob was married to the former Helen L. Strand and the two shared a blessed union of 59 years prior to his passing.
Bob was employed at Lazare Lincoln Mercury on Wolf Road as a Service Manager for many years, prior to that, he was the owner and operator of Church Service Station in Latham. He was a 30 year member of the Knights of Columbus in Latham where he was also Grand Knight, Life Member of the Colonie Elks #2192, American Legion in Watervliet as well as the Latham Little League and Babe Ruth.
Bob truly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed the game of golf, mowing the lawn and watching the Yankees and Giants.
In addition to his beloved wife Helen, he is survived by his loving children: Robert (Joan) Church Jr. of FL, Peter Church of Voorheesville, James (Aimee) Church and Christopher (Kristen) Church both of Cohoes. 8 cherished grandchildren: Crystal, Caitlin, Katherine, Stephani, Lauren, Andrew, Ryan and Paislee; 4 adored great grandchildren: Julien, Wyatt, Zachary and Charlotte as well as his sister: Jane (Robert) LaBeau of MA and his Brother in Law: Peter (Barbara) Strand.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday February 27, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Bob's Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday February 28 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Bob's name to Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Interment will take place in Memory Garden's, Colonie.
