DAVID STODDARD
Clifton Park-David Stoddard, 79 of Clifton Park, died peacefully at home on Sunday, February 19, 2017 as he entered into eternal life surrounded by his loving wife, Jane May (Putnam) of 35 years and his loving family.
Born and educated in Schenectady he was the son of the late Jesse and Grace (Hopkins) Stoddard, Sr.
Dave resided in the Capital District most of his life living in Schenectady, Scotia, and Clifton Park. He retired from General Electric in 1995 after 38 years of service and served in the US Army from 1962 until 1964.
During his visit on Earth, Dave pronounced that he had many blessings and few regrets. Married in to a family who shared with him many happy memories, produced grandchildren who he adored, and enjoyed living his life with his sweet, loving, and adoring wife, "Janie," he truly enjoyed the simple things in life. Dave had a passion for watching golf and loved reminiscing about his childhood, sports, and current events. He also continually shared fond memories about "man's best friend" and the Chow's in his life. A knowledgeable and well read man, Dave was not shy and always told it like it was, not ever worrying about the opinion of others. Dave was also known to enjoy a good glass of wine. He will be missed.
Survivors include his wife Jane May (Putnam) Stoddard, his step-children Kathy (Lon) Buchalski of Greensboro, GA, Michael Cavanaugh of Glenville, Brian Cavanaugh of Schenectady and Patrick (Joan) Cavanaugh of Clifton Park, he was the proud grandfather of Brooke (Adam) Buchalski-Riffe, Grayson and Ava Cavanaugh, great grandfather to Aiden Adam and Emerson Mae Riffe, his brother Donald (Helen) Stoddard of Schenectady.
Dave was also survived by nieces and nephews, and most notably, Debbie Macherone, who personally cared for Dave at his time of need over the years, offering love, kindness, and compassion providing comfort and support. He was previously married to the late Mary (Coltre) Stoddard
He was predeceased by his brother Jesse O. Stoddard on September 2, 2006
