VIRGINIA R. WEGNER
Latham- Virginia R. Wegner of Latham passed away peacefully on Friday February 17, 2017 at Eddy Village Green in Cohoes surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 30, 1921 in Troy, Virginia was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Dickson) Rush. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gerard J. Wegner on February 12, 2009; they were married on February 23, 1946, cherishing 63 years of marriage prior to his passing.
Virginia was a Receptionist with N.Y Telephone and G.E.X. in Latham for many years before retiring in 1976. She was an avid bridge player and volunteered at Our Lady of Hope in Latham for 25 years. She was also a member of the Edison Club and Republican Committee of Colonie for 15 years.
Virginia is survived by her loving daughters: Geraldine (David) Brown of Cicero, NY, Gail (David) Taylor of Latham and Debey (David) Siegel of Sacramento, CA, as well as her nine cherished grandchildren and eleven adored great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her siblings: Phillip and Frank Rush and Dorothy Nugent.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday February 22, 2017 from 9:45-10:45 am at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd., Loudonville.
Virginia's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. immediately following the visitation with Fr. James Walsh officiating.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Nancy and Kristen Lansing and Michelle Nugent-Jameson, the Staff of House 2 at Eddy Village Green and the Pastoral Care Team at St. Pius Church for their care and love shown to Virginia.
Due to cemetery floral regulations, please remember Virginia by sending memorial contributions to the St. Pius X Church Pastoral Services, 23 Crumitie Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 or to PBC Organization (Primary Biliary Cholangitis) Dr. Gershwin's Research, 1430 Garden Road, Pearland, TX 77581.
Interment will take place next to her husband Gerard at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
