JOHN "JACK" T. MCFARLAND
Latham- John "Jack" T. McFarland, 92 of Latham, beloved husband of Noreen E. McFarland, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2017 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.
Born in East Mauch Chunk, PA on May 23, 1924, he was the son of the late John W. and Violet (Keuhner) McFarland. Jack was married to the former Noreen E. Grady on October 31, 1964 and the two have shared a blessed union of 52 years prior to his passing. He was a proud Marine who served in the 1st Marine Division in the Pacific during WWII.
Jack was employed with NYNEX in the Tri-City area as a Supervisor, retiring in 1987 after 43 years of service; he was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Jack was a communicant of St. Ambrose Church where he sang in the choir.
In addition to his beloved wife Noreen, he is survived by his loving children: Andrew McFarland of Halfmoon, Kelly (Steven) Zoller of Rensselaer and John (Rosanne) McFarland of Colonie; 6 cherished grandchildren: Alexander and Lauren Wolford, Ian and Kyle McFarland, Adam and Jenna McFarland, and several nieces & nephews.
Jack is predeceased by his daughter: Darlene Peaslee and his siblings: Paul and Lewis McFarland, Ruby Walkup, Carol Lou Sell, Myra Proctor and Wanda Meyers.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday February 16, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Jack's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 17 at 10:00 am in St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Fr. Francis Dubois officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Jack's memory to the St. Ambrose Church Food Pantry.
Interment with military honors will take place in Memory Garden's, Colonie.
