HENRY M. MURGIA
Latham- Henry "Hank" M. Murgia, 83 of Latham, beloved husband of Martha Lockwood Murgia, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital with his loving family at his side.
Born in Watertown MA, on August 9, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Philomena Audi Murgia. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy class of 1952 and then entered the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War. He married the love of his life Martha L. Lockwood on September 24, 1960 and the two have shared a blessed union of over 56 years. Henry was a self-employed Residential
Contractor serving the Capital District for over 35 years before retiring in 2000. He was very proud of his Catholic Faith and Italian Heritage and a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. He loved sports especially the NY Yankees, NY Giants and NY Knicks. He enjoyed playing golf, handball and bowling. He enjoyed traveling to see his beloved family. Henry was also a proud member of the Watervliet Knights of Columbus Council.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving children Mark (Kyong Suk) Murgia of Killeen , TX, Michelle (Scott) Trunkett of Suwanee , GA, Michael S. Murgia of Latham and Melinda (Darrin) Nardi of Suffield, CT, his brother : Edward (Marilyn) Murgia and his cherished grandchildren Deena Murgia, Sean (Sade) Murgia, Matthew Nardi, Marissa Nardi and his adored great-grandchildren Tiler Murgia and Jayden Murgia. Hank was predeceased by his siblings Sylvia Neary, John Murgia and Albert Murgia. He is also survived by his sister in law Maureen Murgia, 3 special goddaughters Laura Smith, Maura Murgia, Anne Marie McNiven as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday November at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday from 5:00 -8:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Community Hospice team of Nick, Doris, Jenn, Yvonne, Cindy, Dr. Kambam and Dr. Galati for all of the love and care give to Hank during his care with them.
