ROBERT H. LUDLUM Colonie - Robert H. Ludlum, 89 of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Friday June 19, 2009 in the comfort of his home. Born in Albany and raised on Matilda St, he was the son of the late John H. and Mary (Harpham) Ludlum. After high school he shoveled coal for the railroad which helped him go to college, where he received a BA from Ithaca College and an MA from NYS University. He was a WWII Veteran where he was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. He started his career after WWII as a music teacher with the North Colonie School District and then became the Superintendent at Brittonkill Central Schools. In the 1960's Bob entered the insurance field with NY Life Insurance Corp. and eventually retired from Aetna Life & Causality. Bob regularly attended annual Marine Corps squadron reunions, reuniting with old friends and meeting new WWII friends. During the 50's he was choir director with a church in Albany and sang with them during the late 60's. A lifelong project guy who liked to putter, he was always fixing lawn tractors and working on small projects. Bob was well liked in the neighborhood and his terrific neighbors looked out for and took good care of him in his later years.
