BEATRICE A. VINCIGUERRA Latham- Beatrice A. Vinciguerra, beloved widow of Stephen P. Vinciguerra Esq., and longtime Latham resident, passed away on Saturday July 30, 2016, 2016 at the age of 92. She was born in the little village of Torrice, in the Province of Frosinone, Italy on August 25th, 1923. After her mother died at an early age, she was raised by her grandmother, in Italy, until age 13, when she was sent to live with her aunt & uncle, Joseph and Minnie D'Amico in Whitehall, New York. She was predeceased by them, as well as by her father, Angelo Vona, and her mother, Maria Caterina Costantini Vona and as well as her sister, Leda Martino of Floral Park, NY. She is survived by her loving children: Timothy J. Vinciguerra, MD, and his wife, Maggie, of Latham, and her daughter, Mary Vinciguerra D'Ambrosio, and her husband Nick of Clifton Park. She leaves four cherished Grandsons: Joshua Vinciguerra and his wife, Maggie, of Niskayuna, Matthew Vinciguerra of Arlington, VA, Spencer Brown, and his wife Alison, of Hyde Park, VT, and Stephen Brown of Stowe, VT. Also surviving are her adored great-granddaughters, Anna Vinciguerra & Elizabeth Vinciguerra of Niskayuna. Bea is also survived by her brother, Aristedemo "Rusty" Vona, and her close cousin, Mary D'Amico Polidore of Queensbury, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. While Bea was never employed outside the home in the traditional sense, she was always involved in the decision making of her husband's real estate ventures, and she managed many of their rental properties over the years. She was a very active volunteer, organizing the altar decorations of St. Ambrose Church, especially for all of the liturgical holidays, and sewed many of the vestments and altar cloths. St. Ambrose Church and School were very close to her heart, having been a devoted member of the parish since its early days. She was a talented seamstress, and had a terrific eye for decor. She was also a prolific gardener, having gorgeous flower gardens at every home in which she lived, as well as amazing vegetable gardens. From those gardens she made fabulous tomato sauces and eggplant dishes, and continued cooking for family events and celebrations well into her late 80's. While seemingly quiet and reserved, she was especially fond of her close circles of friends and family. She lived life on her own terms, and did it beautifully. With the strength of her convictions, she refused to act hastily or unwisely on any matter, saying it could wait because, after all, "It's not a truckload of fish!" Her strength in the face of adversity was based on her philosophy that "These are things that happen to the living." Special thank you to all the caregivers who made her comfortable in her own home over the years and the team from All Metro Health Care, as well as Community Hospice,Rev. Anthony Barratt and the Deacons from St. Ambrose Church for the excellent care, visits, comfort and spiritual support Bea received during her long illness. A celebration of Bea's life will be held on Wednesday August 3, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham, with Rev. Anthony Barratt officiating. Entombment will be at Our Lady of Angels cemetery in Whitehall, NY. There will be no public viewing hours, but friends are invited to join the family in the McCormick Center at St Ambrose Church immediately following the Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Bea’s memory to St. Ambrose Church or to St. Ambrose School.
