EDWIN LANSING
Latham- Edwin Lansing, 97 of Latham, beloved husband of the late Mary "Marita" Powell, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 11, 2016 at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home in East Greenbush.
Born June 19, 1918 in Schenectady, Edwin was the son of the late Edwin K and Mabel (Willemin) Lansing. Edwin married Mary "Marita" on April 18th 1942 and the two shared a devoted union of 73 years prior to her passing on October 2, 2015.
Ed proudly served as a Tech Sergeant in the US Army, during World War II. Ed was a parts manager for Whitbeck Motors in Troy, he then moved to managing parts at Schenectady Plymouth until 1982. In 1991, he moved down to part time along with driving the courtesy van for DeNooyer Dodge. Ed was a member of Colonie Elks Lodge #2192, American Legion and V.F.W Post 7411 where he was also a past commander. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and volunteer coaching for Latham Little League.
Ed is survived by his loving children: Dale-Ann Hosack of Anchorage, Alaska and Richard S. Lansing of Latham; 5 cherished grandchildren: Brent and Kimberly Hosack, Lisa Lansing, Lori Martin and Scott Lansing; 6 adored great grandchildren: Kailynn and Bryson Lansing, Kristin and Morgan Hosack, Abby and Brady Martin; 1 great great grandson Emilio Soler and his siblings: Lillian Ryder of Ballston Spa, William John of Cooperstown and Joseph John of Rock Hill Falls and several nieces and nephews.
Ed is predeceased by his siblings: Elizabeth, Robert, and Albert Lansing
Graveside services and military honors for Ed will be celebrated privately at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
