SHIRLEY A. MURPHY
Latham - Shirley A. Murphy, 78 of Latham, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Murphy ("Bob"), passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2016, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.
Born in Providence, RI on February 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Roland A. and Beatrice H. (Lapham) Goudreau. She married Bob on September 4, 1957 and the two were blessed with almost 52 years together prior to his passing on March 10, 2009.
At one time, she held various positions in the retail industry. Shirley was a loving and dedicated homemaker and her family was the most important thing in her life. She was a selfless, honest and very motherly person who was concerned about the well being of others more than herself, and always wanted to care for them, if needed. Most of all, Shirley was very loyal and dedicated to the love of her life, Bob; even in his passing, she was meticulous in maintaining their family headstone at the cemetery.
Shirley is survived by: her loving children: Susan M. Zirpoli of Delmar, Robert J. Murphy of Latham and Kenneth C. Murphy of Clifton Park; four adored grandchildren: Cheryl M. (Thomas) Barrell, David R. Zirpoli, Mark K. Murphy and Katielin Adams; two cherished great grandchildren: Jackson and Kailah Barrell; her siblings: Roland C. (Kay) Goudreau of MA, Patricia H. (Arthur) DeBlois of MA, June (Brendan) McGuinness of AZ and David J. (Carol) Goudreau of RI; and her sister in law: Rose Murphy, PA. She is also survived by her granddogs, Brighton and Jack, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
