FRANCIS "STUB" BUFF
Latham- Francis "Stub" Buff, 80, entered peacefully into eternal life on March 24, 2016, while praying the Lord's Prayer with his family at Albany Memorial Hospital.
Son of Dr. Joseph and Frances Buff, he was born in Winona, MN on March 27, 1935, and was a faithful communicant at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. He attended the two room school house (Airport School #17), then to Our Lady of Angels in Albany. He then graduated from Vincentian Institute. After high school he went to St. Joseph College in Princeton, NJ and then to Siena College before enlisting in the Army.
For 20 years, Stub served in the U.S. Army Reserves and retired as a Master Sergeant. He was actively involved as a Boy Scout leader for 8 years for Loudonville Troop 99 and volunteered 6 years for Latham little league. He enjoyed being a member of the Buff's Racing Team and spending time with his family at the Buff camp. He was a local business man as a service station owner-operator of Buff's Citgo in Loudonville for 30 years.
Stub is survived by four children, Dr. Esco (Christine) Buff, Janice Sopko, James (Joann) Buff, Beverly (Paul) Conklin, twelve grandchildren, Jeremy, Victoria, Alec, and Cory Buff, Shawn Buff, Thomas, Bridget, Christa, Joseph, and Mary Buff, and Jessica and Megan Conklin, and one great grandson, Ryeder. He is also survived by 11 brothers and sisters, Joseph Buff, Louis (Kathleen) Buff, Mary (Paul) Mantica, Bernard (Roberta) Buff, Martin (Suzanne) Buff, Robert (Noreen) Buff, Michael Buff, Jerome (Beverly) Buff, Susan (William) Ciejka, Barbara Burns and Paul (Joyce) Buff and many nieces and nephews.
The Family will receive friends on Tuesday March 29, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham
Stub's funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday March 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd. Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
