ERIC F. BOGDANOWICZ
Latham - Eric F. Bogdanowicz, 90 of Latham, beloved husband of the late Mary Saluga Bogdanowicz, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at his home in Latham with his loving family at his side.
Born and educated in Cohoes he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Kostka) Bogdanowicz. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Aug. 7, 1943 to May 22, 1946. After the War Eric "Little Hook" played semi-professional baseball as a pitcher in The Northern League with the St. Albans Giants during the late 1940's. He was a graduate of Siena College with a bachelor's degree in accounting and was the first baseball player inducted into the Siena College hall of fame in 1975. He was employed by NYS Department of Taxation & Finance in Albany for 37 ½ years as a Tax Administrative Supervisor. Eric and his late wife Mary were longtime members of the Siena College opera club and lovers of classical music. He had a love of gardening and was one of the original organic gardeners. He was an avid fisherman with an enduring appreciation of nature. Eric was a Latham resident for over 50 years and a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. His greatest joys in life were the times he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving children Christine (Richard) White of Clifton Park, Eric "EJ" Bogdanowicz of S. Glens Falls, Lisa (Bill) Boland of Loudonville, Carol (David Rattray) Bogdanowicz of Clifton Park, and Steven (Christine) M. Bogdanowicz of Ithaca, his cherished grandchildren Eric M. and Katherine White, Erika (David) Studler, Andrew Bogdanowicz, Jake, Maggie and Michael Boland and Madeleine Rattray, Great Grandfather of Peyton and Elijah Studler. He was the brother of Viola O'Connor of Cohoes and Gerald (Kathy) Bogdanowicz of Colonie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, February 19, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment will be next to his beloved wife Mary in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Latham.
The family wishes to thank the staff of 2-McAuley at St. Peter's Hospital, The Community Hospice and Kingsway homecare for the professional care given to Eric during his illness.
