JAMES E. CAMPBELL
Cohoes-James E. Campbell 89 of Cohoes, beloved husband of Barbara Roeck Campbell for over 61 years entered into eternal life on Friday November 20, 2015 at his daughters home with his beloved family at his side.
Born in Mechanicville, he was the son of the late Harry and Eleanor George Campbell. He was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School class of 1945. Mr. Campbell married the love of his life Barbara Roeck in 1945 and the two have shared a blessed marriage. He served in the United States Army in World War II from November 1944 to November 1946 where he was stationed in the Philippines.
He was employed in the Medical Administration Department of the Stratton V.A. Hospital in Albany for over 35 years retiring in 1981. He was a Cohoes resident for over 50 years and a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Latham where he sang in the church choir. He also enjoyed volunteering for the literacy program at the Cohoes Library. The greatest joy in his life was his family and friends.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving children Linda and her husband Raymond Trzcinski of Melrose and Christopher James and his wife Alecia Campbell of Leominster, MA, his cherished grandchildren Damon, Ray, James, Chris, Max and Samantha, his adored great-grandchildren Evelyn, Dean and Emma. He is also survived by his brother Charles Keegan and sister Patricia (David) Amaroso both of Mechanicville as well as several nieces and nephew.
A Mass will be held on Monday November 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Matthews Episcopal Church 129 Old Loudon Rd. Latham with Rev. Jacob Evans officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Interment with full military honors will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations to St. Matthews Episcopal Church 129 Old Loudon Rd. Latham, NY 12110 or the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Boulevard, Rensselaer, NY 12144 would be appreciated.
