Obituary of Mary "Marita" Alma Lansing

MARY "MARITA" ALMA LANSING Latham- Mary "Marita" Lansing, 96 of Latham, and beloved wife of Edwin Lansing, passed away peacefully on Friday October 2, 2015 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. Born October 31, 1918 in Watervliet, She was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Agnes C. (Walsh) Powell. She graduated from Watervliet High School in 1937 and then attended Troy Business College. It was on April 18th 1942 that Ed and Mary were united in marriage and shared a blessed union of 73 years prior to her passing. In the early 1930's, Mary spent a short time employed as a Stamper for Jacobson's Shirt Factory in Troy. She also worked at the Watervliet Arsenal as a Clerk-Typist in the Tool Design Department. Mary then worked as a lunch room aide with the North Colonie Central School District for 12 years before retiring in 1972. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her beloved husband Edwin and her loving children Dale-Ann Hosack of Anchorage, Alaska and Richard S. Lansing of Latham; her 5 cherished grandchildren: Brent and Kimberly Hosack, Lisa Lansing, Lori Martin and Scott Lansing, 6 great grandchildren: Kailynn and Bryson Lansing, Kristin and Morgan Hosack, Abby and Brady Martin as well as many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday October 6, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Funeral services for Mary will be celebrated at 4:00 pm at the funeral home at the conclusion of the visitation. Inurnment will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery of Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mary's honor to the Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
