Obituary of Grace E. Bell

GRACE E. DHOOGE (BELL) NISKAYUNA- Grace E. Dhooge (Bell), 81, peacefully left this world on Wednesday June 4, 2008 to be rejoined with the love of her life and father of their children, Rene C. Dhooge. As a loving and devoted mother, Grace is survived by children: Linda (Brian) Zabon of NJ, Rene (Kim) Dhooge of NY, Carol Dhooge of NY, Michael (Chris) Dhooge of NC and Noel (Sam) Dhooge of NY. Grace also leaves grandchildren Rene Capone, Jeremy Capone, Grace Feeney, Max Feeney and Kashmir Jones and great-grandchild Emily Capone. Grace will also be missed by her elder-life partnery Louis Jolet and the Jolet family. Born in Defreestville, as the youngest of 14 children, Grace is survived by sisters Margaret Ceresia and Viola Durivage and numerous nieces and nephews. Grace and Rene lived most of their married life in the house they built together in Rexford, NY. While Rene was a truck driver, Grace devoted her time to lovingly raising their children at home. When Grace was tragically widowed at 44 years old, she worked various jobs to sustain the home for their young children. In 1982 Grace moved to Florida where she lived the remainder of her life. As a Floridian, Grace was an active participant in the Catholic Church, Senior Center and had much fun with friends and visiting family. She also met her elder-life companion Louis Jolet, there in 1996. Grace came to Niskayuna, in April 2008 to be with her children during her terminal illness. Grace E. Dhooge Wife, Mom, Grandma and Friend will be missed by all. We Love You. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. Friday June 6, 2008 in St. Paul Catholic Church 2777 Albany Street, Schenectady. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Schenectady 1411 Union St. Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of Grace. Inurnment will take place on Monday June 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Memorys Garden in Colonie. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home in Latham.
