RUTH G. DOOLEY
Latham- Ruth K. Dooley, 83 of Latham, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her daughters home on Monday, May 26, 2008.
Born on July 13, 1924 in Berkeley RI, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (King) Kelly. Ruth met US Navy Pharmacist Mate John D. Dooley while serving for 2 years in the WAVES during WWII. It was on June 19, 1948 that they married and shared a blessed union of 44 years prior to his passing on April 9, 1993.
She was employed as a Secretary for the Watervliet Arsenal for 20 years.Ruth enjoyed playing bridge, dancing,swimming and spent many joyful winters in Dunedin Florida. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Maureen (Philip) Wetter, Cathleen (Dick) Daniels all of Latham, Karen Decker (Jordan) of Watervliet and her cherished grandchildren Matthew (Kristin) Wetter, Timothy Wetter, Kelly Decker & Cheryl Decker and her great grandchild Amber Decker. She is also survived by her brother: Joseph Kelly and Sisters in law, Rita Sheeran and Betty (Jim) Waltersdorf.
Ruth is predeceased by her grandson, Patrick Howe, brother in law, Vince Sheeran, and her sister in law and her husband Mary (Paul) Burns.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Geoffrey Burke.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday from 5-7 at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY. In lieu of flowers conrtibutions can be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Church or Community Hospice of Albany 445 New Karner Rd., Albany NY
