WILLIAM M. HARDIE
Latham-William M. Hardie, 89 of Latham, beloved husband of Joan Ward Hardie for over 60 years, entered eternal life on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospital, in Albany.
Born and educated in Albany, he was son of the late William M. and Anna (Wansboro) Hardie.He graduated from Albany High School and then served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a Engineer, employed by NYS Dept of Transportation for many years specializing in Bridge design, until retiring in 1981. Bill was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. He enjoyed woodworking, especially intricate detailed carving. He loved art and enjoyed the game of golf. He was a member of the Lisha Kill Senior Citizens organization.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife Joan, include his loving son John V. Hardie of Latham and his daughter-in-law, Diane Hardie of Ohio. He is also survived by 3 cherished grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.Bill was predeceased by his son, William Earl Hardie, his sister, Anne Shea and brother, Robert Hardie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday April 18, 2009 at 9:00 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
