DEMETRA SAFFARES
Loudonville- Demetra Saffares, 95 of Loudonville, went home to be with the lord and her husband Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Albany Memorial Hospital, Albany.
Born in Lynn, Mass on December 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Papademetriou) Mouyos. She was married to William Saffares and the two had a blessed union of 51 years prior to his passing in 1998. During World War II, she worked at the Watervliet Arsenal. She was the Owner and Operator alongside her husband William of Sleasman's Hofbrau in Latham and the Trade Wind's Restaurant in Saratoga for many years. She was a member of St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church in Albany. She was a Loudonville resident for over 58 years.
Survivors include her loving son Gregory Saffares and his fianc Brenda Baker of Loudonville, her cherished granddaughters Ariana Ruth Saffares and Shaina Demetra Saffares, she was the Aunt of Paul Mouyos of Dolgeville, George Germain of FL, Linda Tsaffares Crosier of Albany, Elyse Mouyos of FL and Christie McKinney of AL, her former Daughter In Law Laura Saffares and several other nieces and nephews.
Demetra was pre-deceased by her sister Georgia Germain and brothers Charles Mouyos, Chris Mouyos and George Mouyos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Road, Albany with Rev. Patric Legato officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham with the Trisagion service at 6:30 p.m.
Interment will be next to her husband in Memory Garden's, Colonie.
