I was so saddened to read of Nick's untimely passing. I taught Home and Careers at Tamarac and remember Nick as a bright, inquisitive student. It was apparent Nick lived life to the fullest. My deepest sympathy goes to your family. Mrs. Dechene

Looking at the picture here, it's painfully hard to believe your not going to appear in Zlin again with D.O.G. by your side. The following is far from poetic, but heartfelt nonetheless. Some moments come to mind - you staying at my flat for a few days while my wife was in the maternity hospital, you having a real set-to with a friend of mine when he visited (you were both too much alike, perhaps), you permitting a rave on your tract of land near a small village to the consternation of the locals - something of a storm in a teacup in hindsight. It hurts to think we'll never meet up for a beer again to discuss the various merits of Denmark and the Czech Republic (most notably their women). Farewell my friend. You'll be sorely missed by many.

I met Nick in Zlin in 2005. As a newcomer and fellow American, he welcomed me into the community. I got a chance to tour his treehouse, witness his 'community-in-progress in Lhota and his enduring love for D.O.G. Nick, you'll always be remembered by your friends in Zlin for your fierce independence and your free spirit. You enriched our lives beyond measure and we have nothing but gratitude for having spent such precious time with you. Šťastnou cestu…you're with the angels now.

I'm so sorry for this lost. Nick lived his life like he wanted. He did things what he loved and many of us wanted to be exactly free and independent like him. I will never forget..

I always enjoyed times at Tamarac spent with Nick. I look back with fond memories. He was the only brave guy willing to be an awesome mascot. He will be sorely missed. His adventures ended way to soon and I am so very sorry for this tragic loss.
