Obituary of Ernest J. Iachetti

Latham- Ernest J. Iachetti, 90 of Latham, husband of Virginia (DeBonis) Iachetti for 67 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 18, 2015. . Born July 12th 1924 in Watervliet, Ernest was the son of the late Augustino and Rose (Orcluolo) Iachetti. Ernest married the love of his life Virginia DuBonis on April 20, 1947. He was a graduate of Watervliet High School. Ernest became an Electrician, employed by IBEW Local 438 for over 30 years before retiring. During his retired years, Ernest spent his winters in Brandenton Florida with his wife. He served in the U.S Navy from January 22nd 1943 to March 31st 1946. He was a part of the Judges Association for many Firemen parades. He was also a former usher at St. Ambrose Church and delegate for local and state conventions at S.W. Pitts where he was a life member for over 61 years. Ernest was a past president of both the Hudson Mohawk Fire Fighters Association and the Nighthawks of Troy. Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving daughter Rosemarie (Robert) Rizzo of Latham, his cherished grandchildren, Amy (Ron) Remick, Annemarie (Nick) Ihnatolya, Anthony Rizzo, and Andrew Rizzo. He adored his great-grandchildren Alex and Luke Remick, Patrick, Libby and Emily Ihnatolya, and Jayden Rizzo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. Anthony Barratt officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Entombment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Contributions to the Latham Fire Company 226 Old Loudon Rd.
