Latham - William V. Mielewski, 68 of Latham, beloved husband of Annette Bertrand Mielewski for 45 years, entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Whittier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Ghent with his loving family at his side.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late John J. and Catherine Gush Chimielewski Jr. He was a graduate of Watervliet High School. Bill was employed by GE/Cogen in Selkirk as an operation technician for over 36 years retiring in 2006. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as a New York Yankee and New York Giant fan. He was a Latham resident for over 40 years and a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving children Denise (Ryan) Carmichael of Latham and James (Erin Dougherty) Mielewski of Albany, his cherished grandchildren Jacob Buechs and Sierra Buechs. He was the brother of Bernard (Roz) Melewski of Clifton Park, Gertrude (The Late Alec) Sally of Watervliet, Frank (Amelia) Mielewski of Clifton Park. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Leona Mielewski, Patricia Bertrand, Gail Bertrand and Lorraine Bertrand as well as several nieces, nephews and his canine companion Jeter.
Bill was predeceased by his brother Chester (the Late Kay) Melewski and brother John Mielewski III.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday December 9, 2014 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating. .
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday December 8, 2014 from 4-7 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment with full military honors will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Whittier Rehabilitation Center and of the Albany Dialysis Center for the special care and attention given to Bill during his stay with them.
