ELIZABETH B. PARLETT
Clifton Park- Elizabeth B. Parlett, 84 of Clifton Park, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn on October 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Elizabeth M. (Muller) Byrne. She was married to Henry W. Parlett in 1954 and the two shared a blessed union of 31 years prior to his passing in 1985.
Betty enjoyed being a military wife and developed her love of travel moving from duty station to duty station. Following Henry's death in 1985, Betty traveled all over the world with some of her favorite places being Kenya and the Galapagos Islands. Betty was employed as a Bookkeeper for various companies in Ohio and Florida. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Orlando Science Center and was active at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Apopka, Florida as well as St. Marks Presbyterian Church in Altamonte Springs, Florida. She enjoyed crosswords (always done in pen) and was happy when she could complete the Sunday NY Times puzzle. To her family she was "the font of all knowledge".
Betty is survived by her loving daughter: Mary (Michael) E. Sweeney of Latham and her four cherished grandchildren: John and Kevin Sweeney, Jennifer Parlett and Jessica (Horacio) Saenz.
She cherished in her heart the memory of her predeceased son: James W. Parlett and is also predeceased by her siblings: James and Kay.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Friday March 28, 2014 from 4-6 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd, Rensselaer, NY 12144
Inurnment will take place next to her beloved Henry in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Apopka, Florida at the convenience of the family.
