ERROL R. LAMAR Latham- Errol R. LaMar, 74 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Albany Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Plattsburgh on November 2, 1939, he was the son of the late Clarence F. and Catherine J. (Benway) LaMar. He proudly served in the US Army from 1956-1957 followed by the Army National Guard. Errol was married to Eileen Westervelt on July 15, 1966 and the two have shared a blessed union of 47 years prior to his passing. Errol was formerly employed at Behr-Manning (Norton Co.) in the Late 1950's-1960. He then was employed with the NYS Taxation & Finance in Albany as a Computer Programmer and Supervisor, a position he retired from. Following his retirement he worked in the Pro Shop at the Town of Colonie Golf Course and was an avid golfer. Errol loved the New York Yankees and was as a member and treasurer of both the Tax Duffers Golf League and the Norton Deadwoods Bowling Team as well as a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife include his loving children: Stacy (Dan) LaMar Weik and Daniel (Nicole) LaMar all of Latham, his 4 cherished grandchildren: Isabella and Chloe Weik and Ryan and Mary Kate LaMar. He is also survived by his sister Karen (Mac) Smith of Watervliet as well as his in laws Louise (James) Young, Marion Brenenstuhl and Joan Bruno and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers: Jonas Bruno and Keith LaMar. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses on the 4th floor cancer blood disorder unit and D3E-MICU at Albany Medical Center for their care and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2-5 PM at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 24 at 10:00 am at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, Pastor Robert Kolvik-Campbell will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, 5 Computer Dr. West, Suite 100, Albany, NY 12205 Interment will take place in Memory Garden's, Colonie.
