ARTHUR M. MORRISSEY JR.
Queensbury - Arthur M. Morrissey Jr. 92 of Queensbury and formerly of Latham, was called home to the Lord peacefully surrounded by his loving family Friday, March 14th. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary P. (Nuttall) Morrissey.
Born in Hudson Falls, NY on July 10, 1921, he was the son of the late Arthur M. and Anna (Gennamore) Morrissey, Sr. He attended Watervliet High School and proudly served during World War II in the US Army Airforce.
Art was a Master Craftsmen Watchmaker, a talent that he learned from his father. He owned and operated Arthur's Watch Shop on 4th Street in Troy. His passions were flying (aerobatics), photography, cooking for his family and especially singing. He sang with Les Brown and his Orchestra in his early years and also performed in many minstrels. He also loved to sing Karaoke. He was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192, the Albany Hanager Quiet Birdmen and of several Veterans' Organizations.
He is survived by his loving children:Daniel (Liz) Morrissey of Simpson, SC, Gary (Judy) Morrissey of Cohoes, Karen (Paul) Audi of Latham, Bernadette Jarocki of Buffalo and Deborah (Keith) Pettit of Niskayuna, his 4 grandchildren: Daniel Morrissey, Amber Quay, Christopher Audi and Alexander Pettit; 5 great grandchildren as well as his beloved companion Helen Betke of Lansingburgh; 5 sisters Rachel Cuomo, Anna Karpiak, Eleanor Rafn, Janet Morrissey and Helen Morrissey. Along with his three sister-in-laws; Ann (John) Cunningham, Rose VanDenburgh and Kathy Nuttall; also survived by several neices and nephews.
Art is predeceased by his brother: Francis Morrissey, his sister Josie Schwarz and his granddaughter Jaclyn Morrissey.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd. Latham, with Rev. Geoffrey Burke, pastor officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7 p.m.
Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum in Niskayuna.
