FRANK J. MANZERRA Latham- Frank J. Manzerra, 84 of Latham, beloved husband of Philomena Manzerra, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 24, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Born in Watervliet on March 10, 1929, he was raised on 4th St. in South Troy and was the son of the late Joseph and Louise (Marro) Manzerra. Frank married his beloved the former Philomena Barney on February 4, 1956 and the two shared a blessed union of 58 years prior to his passing. He proudly served his country as a "Tin Can Sailor" in the US Navy during World War II stationed on a Destroyer. Frank was employed at Al-Tech Specialty Steel in Watervliet as a First Helper, retiring in 1983 after 35 years of dedicated service. He was a past member of the Colonie Elks #2192 and Italian Community Center. Frank enjoyed trips to the Saratoga Racino, was an avid puzzle builder. He loved all sports both college and professional on television. He loved to travel and enjoyed Sunset Beach in North Carolina. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife include his loving children; Leslie (Robert) Woodin of Ballston Lake and Louise (Lawrence) DeFalco of Stevenson Ranch, CA. His four cherished grandchildren: Diane Woodin, Steven (Aimee) Woodin, James Woodin and Laura DeFalco as well as his sister; Angelina Collins of Lansingburgh and many nieces and nephews. Frank is predeceased by his brother; Luciano Manzerra who was Killed in Action in World War II and his sister; Sr. Jane Manzerra-Sister of Mercy. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday February 26, 2014 from 4-7 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday February 27 at 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Fr. Anthony Barratt will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association 440 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205 would be appreciated.
