Obituary of Shereen Alexandra Massoud

Colonie- Shereen Alexandra Massoud, 23 of Colonie, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side on Friday February 14, 2014.
Born in Niskayuna on November 22, 1990, she was the daughter of Mary Jane (Guilz) Lynd and Sami Massoud.
Shereen grew up in Rotterdam and Poestenkill and was a graduate of Averill Park High School, Class of 2008. She then attended Hudson Valley Community College. She enjoyed learning different languages, a vast variety of music and all types of puzzles. Shereen was a talented artist who enjoyed making sculptures and jewelry. She was a past volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in Albany and was a member of the Young Adults Support Group at the Hope Club in Latham. She loved to travel and had a special love for her family that was endless.
Shereen is survived by her parents; Mary Jane and William Lynd of Colonie and Sami and Donna Massoud of Rotterdam as well as her sisters; Stephanie Massoud of Manhattan, Rianna Massoud of Colonie, her step brothers John Lynd of Queens, Christopher O'Brien of Rotterdam and Kevin O'Brien of Tampa, FL. She is also survived by many special aunts, uncles, cousins and her Maternal Grandparents; Roland and Jane Guilz of Rotterdam, who lovingly assisted in Shereen's care during her illness.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday 2/17/2014 from 4pm to 7pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.
Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Shereen Massoud Memorial Fund c/o Averill Park High School, 146 Gettle Road, Averill Park, NY 12018, where a memorial scholarship in Shereen's name has been established to be presented to an Averill Park High School graduate in June.
Interment will take place in Brookside Cemetery at Brunswick Church on 42 White Church Lane, Troy NY 12180.
