MARGARET "RITA" HUME ROE
Latham- Margaret "Rita" Hume Roe, 66 of Latham, passed away peacefully after struggling with a very long illness on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's, in Albany.
Born in Glascow Scotland on September 27, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Watson) Green. She came to the U.S. in late 1967. Rita was married to Philip F. Roe in April 1971, and the two shared a blessed union of almost 43 years together.
At one time Rita worked as an Au Pair for the William Schaefer family, she then worked for a short time as and operator with New York Telephone before finally dedicating herself as a loving and devoted homemaker to her family. She was a master knitter and enjoyed needlepoint and gardening and also recently became a US citizen
In addition to her beloved husband she is survived by her loving daughter; Yvonne Roe of Hannawa Falls, NY, two cherished grandchildren; Robert and Tiffani Love; her in-laws; James Aitken of Glascow, Stephen Roe, William (Mary) Roe and Elizabeth (Mike) Morrissey all of Elmira as well as a large amount of nieces and nephews on each side of the pond. A special thanks to good friends Terry and Annette Vallely for their support and loving care during this difficult time.
Rita is predeceased by her sister: Anna Aitken
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday January 26, 2014 from 3:30-6:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Betsy Ewalt, Chaplain of Community Hospice officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Road, Rensselaer, NY 12144
Inurnment will take place in Ashland Cemetery in Wellsburg, NY at the convenience of the family.
