Obituary of Louis Charles Landauer

LOUIS CHARLES LANDAUER Roswell- Louis Charles "Chuck" Landauer of Roswell, New Mexico and formerly of Latham passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at Lovelace Hospital in Roswell, New Mexico. Born in Knox, NY on January 18, 1923, he was the son of the late August and Albertine (Schweitzer) Landauer. He was a graduate of Siena College and R.P.I. in Troy. He had been predeceased by beloved wives Marianne Gilroy and Helen Buckingham. Louis served during World War II in the Navy as a Night Fighter Pilot, flying Grummen Hellcat F6F's. He also served in the Naval Reserve for 20 years after WWII. Louis was employed with General Electric in the Research & Development Center and the Knolls Atomic Power Lab in Niskayuna from 1954-1980. He then worked for the State of New Mexico Santa Fe and Roswell, New Mexico from 1981-1986. Lou was an usher at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Roswell and former usher at St. Ambrose Church in Latham. He also was involved in the Navy Tailhook Association, Experimental Aircraft Association and Valley Vintage Motor Club in Roswell. Some of his favorite pastimes included restoring collector cars and experimental aircraft building and flying. Survivors include his loving children; Michael C. (Dottie) Landauer, Mary Lou Dunham, Patricia Landauer, Peter (Kim) Landauer, Daniel (Susan) Landauer and Susan (Gene) Massamillo, his cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth (Sean) Rigney, Charles Dunham, Ryan Dunham, Kristen Landauer, Katherine Landauer, Andrew Massamillo, Christian Massamillo, great grandchildren, Samantha Rigney Joseph Rigney and Tyler Landauer and his sister in law; Jane Landauer and several nieces and nephews. Louis was predeceased by his beloved son Paul, and his brothers Joseph and Francis Landauer. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday December 22, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 23, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, Latham with Rev. Anthony Barratt officiating. Interment will take place at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery of Niskayuna.
