Obituary of Rita Gertrude Mackesey

RITA G. MACKESEY Loudonville- Rita Gertrude Dittus Mackesey, 82 of Loudonville, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Evergreen Commons, in East Greenbush. Born in Kingston, NY, on December 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Streble) Dittus. She was a graduate of Kingston High School and St. Peters School of Nursing. On April 14, 1952 she married William F. Mackesey Sr. and the two shared a blessed union of almost 53 years prior to his passing on March 31, 2005. At one time Rita was a Registered Nurse at Brady Hospital in Albany, she then took a position as a sales representative in the paint department at Sears in Colonie Center retiring after over 15 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed camping and was an active RV'er. Rita was a communicant of St. Pius X Church in Loudonville and after her retirement she was an active volunteer with the local office of the American Cancer Society. Rita is survived by her loving children; William Mackesey Jr., Michael (Cindy) Mackesey, Kathleen (Ray) Jacobs, Timothy (Mindy) Mackesey, Maureen Mackesey, Sharon (Stephen) Dybas, Patricia (Scott) Messick, Eileen Mackesey and Kevin (Cindy) Mackesey, her 16 cherished grandchildren; Heather, Caitlin, William III, Casey, Amy, Kelly, Jim, Patrick, Shannon, Andrew, Jared, Pamela, Erin, Stephanie, Sean and Ryan, 3 adored great granddaughters; Lexus, Mya and Ava as well as her sister in law Catherine Dittus and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother; John Dittus A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 2, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY, Pine West Plaza, Bldg 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave Ext., Albany NY 12205 Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
