DORIS M. BIGELMAN
Virginia- Doris M. Bigelman of Clifton, Virginia and formerly of Newtonville/Latham passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 5, 2013 at Sunrise at Fair Oaks in Fairfax Virginia.
Born on December 5, 1915 in Watervliet, She was the daughter of the late Lester Roy and Mary (Thackeray) McKenna. Doris was a 1933 graduate of Catholic Central High School. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harry A. Bigelman who passed away in 1996.
Doris was a Real Estate Agent, employed with Picotte Real Estate for over 15 years. She was employed as an agent for Don Weed Real Estate. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham since its inception and was a former singer in the funeral choir there. She was also a former communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham.
She is survived by her loving son Paul and Kathleen (Hartigan) Bigelman of Clifton VA as well as her four cherished grandchildren; Kevin and Karen (Motl) Bigelman and Brian and Shannon (Sullivan) Bigelman, Sarah and Patrick Sweeney, and Kara and Matthew Eganhouse and 7 adored great grandchildren; Ryan, Kieran, Brendan and Megan Sweeney and Anna, Abby and Brady Bigelman.
She was predeceased by her brothers William and Kenneth McKenna.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday November 8, 2013 from 12 noon to 1:30 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday November 8 at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Assumption, 498 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Fr. Geoffrey Burke will officiate.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Catholic Central High School, 625 Seventh Avenue, Troy, NY 12182 or to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane Latham, New York 12110.
Interment will take place in the St. Agnes Cemetery of Menands.
