ARTHUR G. VIERLING
Latham- Arthur G. Vierling Sr., 87, passed away at home on October 12, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Art was born on February 28, 1926 in Chicago Illinois; he was the son of the late Gilbert and Lillian (Campbell) Vierling and the devoted husband of Lillian (Riley) Vierling for 62 years.
At a young age, Art moved to and grew up in the Greensburg area, just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. After high school, Art entered the Army AirForce, stationed in Amarillo, Texas until his honorable discharge in 1945. In 1948, Art moved to the Albany NY area where he met his wife Lillian. They were married September 8, 1951. Art was employed by the A&P Supermarket Warehouse and was a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring February 1988.
Art enjoyed travelling, hunting and camping. He was an avid gardener. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved big band music. He was a former member of the Colonie Elks Lodge 2192, Knights of Columbus, Niagara Mohawk Pension Club East and a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption in Latham NY.
Art was the devoted father of Arthur G. (Mary Lynn) Vierling of Syracuse NY, Michael P. Vierling of Watervliet, and James R. (Eileen) Vierling of Waterford. He was the cherished grandfather of Melissa A. Vierling, Fairfax, VA, Christopher A. Vierling, Manhattan, NY, Thomas M. Vierling, Waterford, NY and Mary T. Vierling, Waterford, NY. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Gilbert Vierling.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday October 15, 2013 at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Art's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 16 at 10:00 a.m at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
