JAMES EMERSON SHARP
Latham- James Emerson Sharp, 79 of Latham, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2013 at his home.
Born in Port Jervis, NY on May 1, 1934, he was the son of the late Raymond and Gladys (Bell) Sharp. He graduated from Voorheesville High School as well Mohawk Valley Community College and the University at Albany with an MS in Business Education. Jim married Laureen E. Bell on March 27, 1983 and the two shared a blessed union of 30 years prior to his passing. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Jim taught at the Albany Business College from 1960-1970. In 1970, he then became Director of the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center in Troy. He was named Vice President of HVCC in 1986. Jim retired from the Capital District EOC in 1995. Jim also had the honor of receiving the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Administrative Services from the State University of NY.
In addition to his beloved wife: Laureen, he is survived by his loving children: Alicia L. Sharp, Kyle J. (Robyn) Sharp, Jill N. Sharp & Tami L. McDonald as well as his 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his brother: Robert Sharp of Annapolis, MD. He cherished in his heart the memory of his predeceased daughter Hollie L. Lainhardt.
Relative and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday September 3, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday September 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Jim's memory to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer NY 12144 or to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl St., Albany NY 12202
Interment will take place at Memory's Garden in Colonie.
