GEORGE H. OATMAN Latham- George H. Oatman, 98 of Latham, passed away on August 7, 2013 at Community Hospice at Memorial Hospital, in Albany. George was born May 22, 1915 at the family home on Baker Road in Hartford, NY. He was the son of the late Seldon and Janie (Conety) Oatman. George attended a one room school house in Hartford, NY for his early education years and then Hartford Central School. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. He married Vivian Hanna on April 9, 1944 in Granville, NY. They were married for 54 years prior to her passing on January 21, 1998. George was employed at Telescope Folding Furniture in Granville before serving in the Army. After his discharge, he was employed by Schenectady Locomotive and then Rushmore & Webber where he retired from. George was a longtime member of the Calvary Methodist Church in Latham. He and his wife enjoyed spending time at Lake St. Catherine, Vermont during the summers and he also enjoyed skiing at Bromley Mt. also in Vermont. Besides his parents and his wife, George was predeceased by his 3 brothers, Sgt. Thomas E. Oatman who was killed in action overseas during WWII as well as Stanley and Bernard Oatman. Survivors include his sister Jean Marie Morrow of Granville, NY and several loving nieces and nephews. In keeping with George's wishes there will be no visitation. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Middle Granville, NY at the convenience of the family. For information or to light a memory candle for the family please visit www.dufresneandcavanaugh.com.
