VINCENT DE SESS
Latham- Vincent De Sess, 79 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Albany Memorial Hospital, in Albany.
Born in Saratoga on September 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Frank and Agnes (Scudderi) De Sessa. Vince was married to the former Shirley A. Barnaby for 22 years prior to his passing.
Vince was trained at the former Royal Barber and Beauty Institute in Schenectady. He began working at a Saratoga Springs shop, and later secured a chair at Rocky's DiBianco's shop in Schenectady. In 1953, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served his county for four years eventually returning to the Capital District in 1957 where he landed a barber job on Old Loudon Road. He was then hired by Nick Viggiani for the Circle Barber Shop. The two men cut and styled hair for many years and upon Nick's passing in 1989, Nick's family wanted still wanted Vince to remain at the shop, where he then manned his old friend's chair for several years, eventually retiring in 2010.
Vince was a member and "Old Timer" for over 52 years at the S.W. Pitts Hose Co. in Latham as well as a member of the Sons of Italy in Albany. He was also a communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham.
In addition to his beloved wife Shirley, Vince is survived by his loving children: Pauline (John) Flack of Latham, Carlin (Robert) Di Nola of Rotterdam, Vincent V. (Mari) De Sess of Guilderland, Clarice Peterson of Wyoming, Linda Dean of Florida, Stanley Luck of Amsterdam, Elaine (David) Siegel of Mass. and Gail Luck of Watervliet as well as 17 cherished grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother: Anthony De Sessa
Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday April 1, 2013 from 5-8 PM at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Fr. Anthony Barratt will officiate.
Interment will take place in Memory Garden's, Colonie.
