Obituary of Charles Joseph Amyot

C. JOSEPH AMYOT Latham- Charles Joseph Amyot, 89 of Latham, beloved husband of H. June Gardner Amyot, entered into eternal life on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Teresian House, in Albany. Born and educated in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Joseph and the late Eva (Plude) Amyot. Mr. Amyot married his beloved H. June Gardner on May 19, 1972 and has shared 40 years with her. He was a graduate of Cohoes High School and received his Masters Degree from NYS College for Teachers in Albany and attended Columbia University. He was a teacher and school administrator in several area schools. He was later employed as a Planning Consultant, NYS Education Department, until retiring in 1983. He was a longtime member of the Troy and Albany YMCA's and a member of the NYS Soccer and Basketball Referee Association. He received citations for his volunteer service with the YMCA and as a consultant for the Cohoes Community Center. In his early years Joseph and his sister Monica were champion baton twirlers working with the Boy Rangers. He served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. Survivors include his beloved wife: H. June (Gardner) Amyot and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings J. Donald, Gerald, Paul, George (Mary), Urban (Dorothy), Andre (Margaret), Jeanne Killebrew, Monica (Paul) Bourgeois and Adele (Bill) Andrews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 8, 2013 at 11:30 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday prior to the mass from 10:00-11:00 am at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. A special thank you to the staff of the Teresian House and Dr. Yusuf Dincer for the many years of care give to Joe.
