MARY JOAN BUONO COLONIE - Mary Joan Buono, 74 of Colonie, beloved wife of the late Nicholas J. Buono, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2009 in the comfort of her home with her loving children at her side. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Helen F. (Cahill) Poulin. Joan was a graduate of Watervliet High School class of 1953. She was a Telephone Operator, employed by New York Telephone for many years until retiring in 1991. Joan was a volunteer at the Ann Lee Home and Albany County Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Survivors include her loving children Joseph N. (Nancy) Buono of Clifton Park, Christopher J. (Denise) Buono of Clifton Park and Nicholas (Wendy Drye) J. Buono III of Colonie, her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Buono, Christie Buono, Shannon Buono and Christopher Buono, her brother John J. (Margaret) Poulin of Latham, two sisters Barbara (Jerry Beston) Hennessy of Watervliet and Karen (Dane) M. Burdick of Latham, her sister-in-law Beverly Poulin of Latham, and her Companion of 25 years Jack Bonesteel. In addition to her late husband and parents Joan was predeceased by her Brother, Robert E. Poulin Sr. A very special thank you to Dr. Regina Resta and her entire team as well as the Community Hospice for the care and dedication to our mother. In keeping with Joan's wishes there will be no visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Joan's life on Wednesday February 4, at 10:00 am in St. Francis DeSales Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville where a Mass of Christian Burial will offered by Rev. David Noone, pastor. Interment will take place next to her late husband Nick in Holy Seplechure Cemetery, Rensselaer.
