JEAN L. HONTZ
Colonie- Jean L. Hontz, 90, of Colonie, beloved wife of Howard W. Hontz, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 1, 2012 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany.
Born in Oneonta on July 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Frances (Norris) Ward. Jean was married to Howard on October 3, 1943 and the two shared a blessed union of 69 years of love and devotion. Jean was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Her family was her utmost in priority and the center of her life.
Jean was employed with Wilbur National Bank in Oneonta as a secretary & teller for many years. She also enjoyed needlework, painting, golf and church work, as well as reading and watching television programs, playing the piano and singing in many choirs. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham, where she was involved in the knitting club, Rummage Sales & Bazaars. On October 10, 2012, Jean was awarded the 2012 Senior Lifetime Achievement Award by the Capital District Senior Issues Forum.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her loving children: Brian (Susan) Lee Hontz of Coatsville, PA and Col. Robert (Nancy) G. Hontz-USAF Ret. of Georgetown, TX as well as 4 cherished grandchildren & 2 adored great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother Robert.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held on Monday November 5, 2012 at 11:00 am at Calvary United Methodist Church, 15 Ridge Place, Latham

Inurnment will take place in Plains Cemetery, Oneonta at the convenience of the family.
